All About The 2023 Summer Reading Guide for Book Lovers

Summer is finally here, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to lose yourself in an amazing book!  Whether you’re lounging by the pool, relaxing at the beach, or enjoying a quiet afternoon in the shade, a great book can make your summer even more enjoyable.  That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce the fourth annual Bibliolifestyle Summer Reading Guide, a meticulously curated collection of 48 new books to help you find the perfect literary escape for the sunny days ahead.

Behind the Scenes: Crafting the 2023 Summer Reading Guide

Creating the Bibliolifestyle Summer Reading Guide is a labor of love that begins in October and continues through late April or early May.  It starts by reviewing catalogs, emails, pitches, and announcements to create a master list of books organized by publication week.  From this master list, I create a reading list that includes highly anticipated books, noteworthy books, and books that have caught my attention and interest.

I then dive into the process of reading the books, organizing them into different categories, and making notes on my favorites.  Once I have a finalized list of books, I then work on designing the guide, including the recipes, reading, and lifestyle tips, and inserting the beautifully designed cover, which this year features an Airstream campsite filled with book lovers.

A sneak peek into the books you’ll find in the 2023 Summer Reading Guide

The 2023 Summer Reading Guide features 48 new books across eight categories.  There is also a special Minimalist Reader category featuring eight standout books that we highly recommend if you’re only planning to pick up a few reads this summer.

Without giving away too much, here’s a taste of what you can expect in the guide:

  • Literary Fiction: Books that explore growing pains, strained relationships, and the complexities of life, including a satire of the publishing industry and a witty love story.
  • Historical Fiction: Travel back in time to experience different cultures and time periods, with books set during World War II, 17th-century Paris, and 15th-century China.
  • Books about Family and Friendship: These books are very focused on the relationship dynamics and complications associated with families and friends.
  • Non-Fiction: Page-turning true stories ranging from a biography of a young Jackie Kennedy to an investigation of the mysterious deaths of three girls at a boarding school for troubled teens.
  • Mysteries and Thrillers: Suspenseful page-turners featuring hostage situations, murder investigations, and high-stakes heists.
  • Science Fiction and Fantasy: Get lost in magical worlds and futuristic adventures, including a space opera and a Roman-inspired fantasy.
  • Romance: Fall in love with modern retellings of classic novels, enemies-to-lovers stories, and heartwarming second-chance romances.
  • Cozy Mysteries: Light and fun mysteries filled with quirky characters and twists that will keep you guessing until the end.
