Along Came Amor by Alexis Daria: A Steamy Romance That Feels Like Home
In Along Came Amor we meet Ava Rodriguez, a 33-year-old middle school teacher freshly divorced and questioning all her life choices. One night at a hotel bar, she meets Roman Vásquez—a handsome hotel owner who prides himself on avoiding romance. Their impulsive one-night stand turns into a no-strings-allowed fling, only to collide head-on when they discover they’re maid of honor and best man at Ava’s cousin’s wedding. As they juggle secret rendezvous and family gossip, their chemistry ignites against a backdrop of warm family gatherings, witty banter, and unexpected moments of vulnerability.
My Review
Alexis Daria delivers an irresistible blend of sizzling heat and heartfelt emotion in this sequel to A Lot Like Adiós, and closing out the Primas of Power series. Ava’s late-night doubts and Roman’s “all-work, no-play” attitude kept me rooting for them from page one. The wedding-day setup—secret rendezvous in between bouquet tosses and gossiping relatives—makes every small glance feel electric. Daria’s depiction of a tight-knit family adds just the right dash of humor and warmth, so you’ll find yourself laughing one moment and swooning the next.
If you want a romance that balances a fast-burn attraction with a slow-burn connection, Along Came Amor will leave you feeling exhilarated, hopeful, and absolutely convinced that love sometimes arrives the moment you least expect it.

Sneak Peek: Along Came Amor Excerpt Preview
The night was dark all around them. She could see in the light cast from the patio that his expression was patient, even as water streamed down his face, but his eyes revealed his uncer- tainty. “What am I then? To you.”
No going back now. She couldn’t let this sweet man think she was only using him to get over Hector.
Especially since he’d just said he loved her. Taking a deep breath, she blinked the raindrops out of her eyes and told him the truth. And it was surprisingly easy.
“Roman, when I’m with you, it’s the only time I can fully be myself. The only time I feel free. You’re not a coping mech- anism, you’re . . .”
Everything I was too scared to want, she thought, but she couldn’t say that.
“You’re my safe space when the stress of being perfect threatens to break me. You’re my reminder that I’m allowed to want things, just for me, regardless of what anyone else thinks. You show me what it’s like to live boldly, to have fun, to let myself take up space.” She flicked the ends of her sodden curls where they dripped cool rainwater down her shoulders and back. “With you, I can literally get my hair wet. I can’t think of a morefitting metaphor than that.”
He wound a lock of her hair around his index finger. “Ex- plain it to me, profe. What does this metaphor mean?”
“It means I trust you.” She took a step closer, pressing their wet bodies and clammy clothes together. “It means you’re not helping me cope—you’re giving me room to heal.”
Not just from the divorce, she realized. He was helping her heal damage that had been part of her
makeup well before Hector had ever entered the picture. But that was too much to face right now, so she filed it away to think about later.Roman’s expression was heartbreakingly tender as he lifted a hand and stroked her cheek. “Then why are you so adamant about ending this?”
She closed her eyes and leaned into his touch. “I don’t want my family to ruin it.”
“Is that what happened before?”
She sighed. “In my family, everyone is all up in your busi- ness. Nobody gets to have secrets.” Opening her eyes, she met his gaze with a silent entreaty. “With you, I wanted something, someone, who was mine. Who didn’t belong to all of them. Do you understand?”
“I do.”
She let out a shaky breath. “Good.”
And then she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him.
