You know when a second book takes everything you liked about the first book and somehow makes it better? That was Destructively Mine for me. This book picks up immediately after the events of Dishonestly Yours, and thankfully, many of the questions I desperately needed answers to actually get answered. At least some of them. Because Krista and Becca Ritchie clearly enjoy emotionally torturing their readers. What I loved most about this installment was how much deeper we got into the characters. Phoebe and Rocky felt even more developed, the family dynamics became richer, the stakes became higher, and the emotional investment became dangerous. This is also where the broader cast really started to shine for me. The siblings became just as interesting as the main couple, and suddenly I wasn’t only reading for Rocky and Phoebe anymore. I wanted everyone’s story, everyone’s secrets, and I wanted everyone to be okay. Which, if you’ve read enough books, is usually a sign the authors have you exactly where they want you. Book Three: Dangerously Ours
The Finale That Completely Wrecked Me
I don’t want to spoil anything. In fact, this is one of those series where spoilers would genuinely ruin the experience. What I will say is this: Dangerously Ours delivers. The final book expands beyond Rocky and Phoebe and allows us to spend more time inside the heads of several other characters, which made the story feel even bigger and more emotional. The multiple perspectives worked beautifully, the twists were stressful, and the stakes felt impossibly high. And I genuinely felt like these characters could lose everything. What impressed me most was how the series never lost sight of its emotional core. Yes, there are cons, lies, and revelations that made me audibly gasp. But underneath all of that, this has always been a story about people trying to build honest lives after being raised in dishonesty. And that landed hard.
